Final Flourish: A Transitional Home Gets the Reggio Register Treatment

When content creator and interior design enthusiast Astin Hancock set out to transform her home, she had a clear goal in mind—blend vintage charm, modern simplicity, and functional design into every corner of her living space. Her final flourish? Replacing builder-grade air vents with custom vent covers by Reggio Register.

From Builder-Grade to Bespoke

Astin’s home had already seen significant renovations: a fresh kitchen, updated bathrooms, a cozy man cave, and reimagined bedrooms and hallways. But something still felt incomplete. The standard air vents—basic, boring, and purely functional—stood out in stark contrast to her carefully curated aesthetic.

“I replaced all of my boring builder-grade vents with gorgeous Reggio Register vent covers that are more decorative but functional,” Astin shares. “The new registers were the icing on the cake.”

Her project didn’t stop at replacing standard-size vents. A large custom central air intake vent cover was made to specification, perfectly marrying visual appeal with airflow functionality. It became a design centerpiece in her home’s main living space.

Designed for Real Life

The Hancock household is a vibrant, lived-in space shared by Astin, her husband, their daughter, and regular guests. With so much foot traffic and day-to-day use, she needed vent covers that were more than just beautiful—they had to be durable and well-crafted.

Astin’s design style leans transitional—a blend of traditional warmth, modern clean lines, and a touch of vintage influence. With inspiration drawn from Pinterest and fellow creators on Instagram, she selected a simple yet stylish grille pattern in a neutral finish that complements her home's palette and overall design scheme.

“I wanted something decorative and somewhat simple—not too busy. I looked through the Reggio site and chose a pattern I liked,” she explains.

Seamless DIY Installation

Despite initial concerns, installing the new grilles turned out to be a smooth process.

“Once you figure out how your first one goes in, it’s pretty easy to get the rest installed because you get in a groove,” Astin explains. “We were able to screw into ceiling studs from the bottom to hold the heavy registers in place.”

This smart installation hack highlights how Reggio Register's custom vent covers are not only built to last but can be installed with a bit of DIY ingenuity.

Why Reggio Register?

With over 45 years of experience, Reggio Register continues to lead the industry with American-made metal grilles crafted using traditional sand-casting and modern laser-cutting techniques. Each piece is backed by a lifetime guarantee—proof that quality never goes out of style.

Whether you're restoring a historic residence or simply upgrading your everyday living space, details like registers and grilles shouldn’t be an afterthought—they should be part of your design plan from the beginning.
