Measure both the width and the length of the duct opening in inches. That is the size you order. Your custom vent cover will be manufactured to fit that duct size and will have a small overlap (typically 1.25" on each side) to sit flush over the opening. If you have a flush mount wood register, measure the duct opening and check the product page for the corresponding overall frame size.

Custom vent covers are available in solid wood (60+ species), steel, cast aluminum, and brass. Wood options can be left unfinished for staining or painting to match your flooring or trim. Metal options come in a range of powder coat finishes including matte black, oil-rubbed bronze, satin nickel, antique brass, and polished brass. Custom vent covers generally ship within 2–6 weeks depending on the level of customization. Custom wood and resin orders typically run 2–4 weeks. Complex orders that require a CAD drawing do not begin production until the drawing is approved by you, so factor that into your timeline. Samples let you see the actual material in your space under your lighting conditions, which is especially important when matching existing hardwood floors. We can accommodate nearly any duct opening size. Standard sizes start from 2" and we regularly produce covers for very large openings, oversized air returns, and non-rectangular configurations. If you have an unusually large or oddly shaped duct, send us your measurements and we will confirm what is possible and provide a quote. There is no minimum order quantity — you can order a single piece.

Custom and made-to-order products cannot be returned, as they are manufactured specifically to your dimensions and specifications. If you need to cancel, you must do so within 24 hours of placing the order — after that, production will have begun. Please double-check your measurements before ordering. If there is a defect or manufacturing error, contact us immediately and we will make it right.

This depends on the material and product type you choose. Most metal custom registers include a damper (louver) that lets you open or close airflow. Wood custom registers are also available with dampers. If airflow control is important to you, specify this when placing your order or contact us to confirm which configurations include a damper. Custom air return covers do not include a damper, as returns draw air back rather than supply it.
